Course Description

BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) - UG Program:

BDS is an undergraduate program aimed at training students to become dental surgeons. It typically takes 5 years to complete, with 4 years of academic study and 1 year of compulsory internship. The curriculum covers subjects such as anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, dental materials, pathology, microbiology, and oral surgery. Students also undergo clinical training to learn various dental procedures such as fillings, extractions, root canals, and prosthetics. Upon completing the BDS program, graduates are qualified to practice as dentists and provide dental care to patients in clinics and hospitals.

BDS PG (Postgraduate) Programs:

Postgraduate programs in dentistry offer specialization in various branches of dental care. These programs typically take 3 years to complete after obtaining a BDS degree. The most common PG programs in dentistry include MDS (Master of Dental Surgery), which offers specialization in areas like:

Orthodontics – focusing on teeth alignment and braces.
Periodontics – specializing in gum diseases and treatments.
Prosthodontics – dealing with the restoration and replacement of teeth.
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery – focusing on surgical procedures involving the mouth, jaw, and face.
